I've been meaning to mention TG Storytime on here for a while now. Not the best name in the world and I haven't explored it thoroughly, but sometimes there are gems hidden away in such places.
Clara posts on FM too, incidentally.

I am not familiar at all with FictionMania. TGstorytime has been seriously degenerating for a while now in my opinion, which is the reason I left here and some others I know, too. Here's another nice story: "Her Elysium" tapas.io/episode/771477

You don't know what you're missing, Monique. On second thoughts, maybe you do

Thanks for the recommendation with this, I finished it a couple of hours ago. If I'm going to be picky, which clearly I am, the structure at the start didn't work for me. The first couple of pages made me think of an over detailed excerpt from a FM tale and I think it would have worked giving us Sarah's story in a conventional linear fashion. The parts set in Georgia are dark and the New York bits over-hedonistic for a country type like me, but what comes next is the most wonderful love story. Throughout the dialogue is superb, Amanda and Erin are brilliantly characterised and the ending is warm and satisfying. Highly recommended.

I actually liked the way it was presented, so if you're picky, Tanya, maybe I'm just easily pleased Glad you enjoyed it overall, though.

I'm very pleased I stuck with it. I have just downloaded Blonde Boy, Red Lipstick. It sounds like a tale of forbidden love between a German soldier and a Soviet partisan!

Bittersweet love story, anyone? I'm surprised I haven't recommended this before: Chained MelodiesBrilliantly written; the end probably won't be to everyone's liking (for me, it was and it wasn't, for all the help that is), but it's books like this that make it worth wading through the bilge to find.

Why anyone would want to write about the Old Bill is beyond me, but this is a decent read and available freely (at the time of posting): Avaline Saddlebags
