I don't read so much TG fiction as I write, but periodically I come across something in the 'mainstream' which challenges gender preconceptions.
My particular loves in reading are science fiction and fantasy and I'd like to draw your attention to a relatively new author called Ann Leckie for the way she approaches gender in her work.
Her debut novel is here - smile.amazon.co.uk/Ancillary-Justice-NEBULA-ARTHUR-Imperial/dp/0356502406/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=ancillary+justice&qid=1575998618&sr=8-1
The society she's created here does not differentiate between the genders - everyone is referred to as female, no matter what biology brings to the individual. It's a beautifully written book with a well crafted set of worlds and a very interesting and unusual character - a warship bound AI who has, for reasons I won't spoil the story with, been reduced to living as one of the human ancillaries that formerly made up much of her fighting strength.
The way she goes about obtaining her revenge is very well plotted.
The book I'm thoroughly enjoying at the moment is The Raven Tower - smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0356507025/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i1
This a pure fantasy, spears and sandals story though much more subtle and well crafted than most. Again Ann Leckie deals with gender in a very delicate way in her creation of her main character, Eolo who is, in our modern terms, transgendered. Solo's character and determination to present to the world in preferred gender is beautifully done.
