You've probably seen it, Ms Marsh certainly has, but there is an interesting though futile discussion about Fictionmania content currently playing out in the site's message board. In my opinion complaining about the type of stories on there is like being upset when Monster Munches don't taste of monsters, or walking along Blackpool beach and feeling let down by the lack of variety and artistic merit in the sandcastles. Each to their own.

I think there have been some healthy points raised in that discussion. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the general tide of opinion is against the huge, long-running serials with fifty-something parts.
Fictionmania might be better if it had a quick star-rating system, I think. They moderate reviews quite aggressively, but it would be nice to have some means of expressing yourself after you’ve invested hours in a story and it turns abusive, distasteful, clichéd or whatever. Still, it’s nice that the legacy system is still going. Quite astounding, really.

If I may be serious for a moment, it’s actually the opposite problem. Any time you remove your material from a site because you think the environment there is awash with something you don’t like, you abandon that site to the fate you perceived.
Years ago, when the Internet was young and I was foolish, I was interested in flying saucers. In those days of newsgroups and dial-up speeds, I felt similarly disgusted with all the dross that was getting in the way of doing anything interesting. I tried inviting people to a splinter group that has some parallels with what you’ve done here, Chrissy... but some people refused to join on the basis that withholding their participation from the ‘public’ forum would surrender it to the loonies.
Needless to say, the loonies still dominate the flying saucer field to this day. Perhaps it’s true that most people just don’t want to think hard and don’t care about what’s implausible. (For evidence, I offer what’s happened to the History Channel.) Almost a third of a century on, the UFO believers are no closer to getting at the truth. In comparison, the science of tranny kink lit has advanced considerably.
Silver lining: when I wrote ‘Into the Unknown’ I already knew everything I needed for Carol Donaldson’s career as a ufologist.

Because the general readers there don't want to read all that emotional stuff and just want to fab off to the sex bits maybe? Kat

One commenter, Ralphi, made an important point about Amazon: “...Too many stories there are: He crossdressed, sex happens, story over. And his crossdressing could be replaced with rubber, leather, diapers, boxers, or anything and the story doesn't change.”
Ouch. I think it’s pretty much true.

In fairness, I think the same thing can be said about Frictionmania.
