What-ho, my lovelies! If COVID-19 sees you stuck at home, working those endless Zoom and Microsoft Teams meetings, permit me to save you the price of a new outfit! Visit the government’s website - specifically www.gov.uk/tax-relief-for-employees/working-at-home - and you will find it’s a simple process to report that your employer has confined you to quarters. You can backdate to the day you first started your WFH, apparently no questions asked, and you receive a tax rebate of £6 a week... until such time as this madness comes to an end. You can also report any items that you had to buy, personally, in order to WFH. You will need your unique ID number, or can set one up if you don’t normally make use of the gov.uk portal. You’re going to be taxed like never before to pay for the government's current spending, so you might as well get your hands on £300 or so, this year. Buy yourself something nice! Stay well – and if you’re not currently working, write something great! Bx
