As, presumably, we've all had at least a look at each another's writing (and if not, why not?) I thought I'd start a thread where we can point one another in the direction of works we've read and enjoyed. I'll get the ball rolling by recommending "Autumn Leaves" by Alys, which can be found on both FM and BC.

There's this one series called Special Enquiries/Ongoing Enquiries by someone, I wish I could remember who...
It's special to me because it depicts a trans woman as a real person and not a 'victim' or a 'freak'.

I'm hearing a lot about that story... I suppose I'd better get around to reading it one day (though from what I hear, the authoress is so full of herself she feels that mainstream TG sites are a bit beneath her...)

Since we have a sub folder do you think we should create a new thread in this folder for each story or at least each persons recommendations? Just an idea, it would keep it easier to find recommendations that way.
By the way I'm feeling really out of place at the moment... I love so many of the works of the authors that are here... Kris, Bryony, Deb, Lizzy, and of course as of recently you as well Chrissy. I've read most of everything that you all have shared, I'm an extremely voracious reader and when a story grabs me I just can't stop reading.

My first comment to this is always going to be any of the stories by Debbie V. Her stories are what gave me the confidence to start this crazy journey.
The is a story by elrodw on BC called 'Not just a Fan'. It moves into the tricked/coerced area but I have enjoyed it
As far as 'Special Inquiries' & 'Ongoing Inquiries' love the story but author has a huge ego. How many sites has she pulled it from now? 10, 12?

There's no reason whatsoever for you to feel out of place, Becca; "Robbie's Revelation" fits very comfortably into the 'positive' theme we're trying to promote here, which is why I invited to you to join us.
Kris, that 'author' (and I use the term loosely) you mention has apparently talked some poor, unsuspecting innocent into providing her with another home for that so-called story of hers. Mark my words, it's just a matter of time until she throws one of her hissy fits with the admin there...
Edit: I forgot to say, the idea of separate threads sounds good; what does everyone else think?

Chrissy, it's just a self perception thing for me I guess. I've worn so many different hats in my life, son, nerd, friend, confidante, sailor, husband, dad... It's just so far for me 'writer' or 'author' doesn't quite fit right, at least to me.
When I think of the works that you all (notice I'm resisting using y'all, hiding my redneck roots here), I think of all the different stories and how I've related to the characters in them. I find myself looking forward to the episodes and rereading some of my favorite stories because I feel like I'm spending time with friends. I look forward to my visits with Alexa, Jenny and Katie, and the there's Steph, Nikki and Sarah and now even Nick and Abi. Or in the non episode stories I reread I'm just revisiting old friends I've missed, like Harriet and Anna..
(Using the Shatner comma for emphasis here) Yes, I, know, writing, a, story, makes, me, an, author. (Ending Shatner comma use) I just don't see it yet, for me I'm just telling a story, one that I hope isn't too painful to read.

Very logical, Captain - pretty much sums up how I view my own status as an 'author'.

... notice I'm resisting using y'all, hiding my redneck roots here) ... It's said that in Boston, you begin a story with "Once upon a time..." whereas in Nashville you begin with "Y'all ain't gonna believe this sh..." Also, I'd never encountered the Shatner comma before. I love it! B.

In my part of the world, we preface anything we're about to tell anyone with the word, "'ere". I think it might translate as "I say, this might interest you..."
Incidentally, in keeping with the theme of this thread, one of my favourite stories is called "Drifting Off Topic". I do apologise, that's actually one of my favourite pastimes.

I love it! B. That would be a lot more funny if it wasn't so true. I spent most of the first 39 years of my life in Alabama(born in B'ham) and Mississippi. If I had a dollar for every time I'd heard that exact phrase I could buy a complete set of matching rims and tires for my home.. (yuck yuck) Chrissy, drifting off topic is going to happen... Kind of why I suggested that we each do our own recommendations on a separate thread in this sub folder lol. I'll start one of my own lol.

Don't worry, Becca, there'll be no more drifting off topic while Admiral Christina's at the helm of this vessel, I've seen it happen all too often on other fora. In fact, I remember one occasion, back in '07... or was it '08...

Well I have been and still am an follower of the Inquires series and have followed it in all its incarnations and has finally found a settled home. Christina's feet are firmly under that table.
For me I have read stories from most of the people on here and those that I have not had that opportunity I hope to correct sooner than later.
Recommended reading for me would be "Companion" and "Escape" by Brenda B on FM, most of her stories are wholesome and honest acceptance of an individuals choice only one of her stories did not get the positive reviews normally shared. Also "Love is all and all is Love" by Charlotte Johnston also on FM is a heart breaker as well as a heart warmer,
Becca I think one of the better hats you wear is "She Dad" just says it all in my eyes Sam

"These Lives We Seek" by Myria on FM. I can't recommend this story highly enough.

You're the headmistress and all, but... How about we try to get into the habit of including a link to the stories and resources that we recommend? It's easy: just use 'reply' instead of 'quick reply' and you can see the link button, etc. Linkie... These Lives We Seek by Myria
